Christopher Stapleton is the Founding Director of the Media Convergence Laboratory and Affiliate Faculty for the Institute for Simulation and Training. He is currently developing an application laboratory for the transfer of experiential media solutions from research at the University of Central Florida. He comes to UCF from the entertainment industry where he has worked with all forms of media around the world. He is presently developing the commercial and international relationships with associations such as Technical University of Munich, Computer Aided Medical Procedure (CAMP) Lab, Germany; Ritsumeikan University, College of Image Art and Science, Kyoto Japan; University of Canterbury, Human Interface Laboratory (HIT), New Christchurch New Zealand, Hongik University, Seoul Korea.His research includes the convergence of art and science in the development of the next generation technology, talent and techniques for interactive story, instructional game design, high-risk confrontational training, experiential entertainment, informal education, professional development, virtual heritage and social networks. He is a producer of experience-based media by training. After 20 years in the entertainment industry, where he worked with all forms of media around the world, he developed experiences and environments for entertainment, marketing and education for companies such as Universal Studios, Nickelodeon, Disney and Sanrio. His positions included Producer, Entertainment Consultant, Creative Director, Artistic Director, Design Director, Art Director, Chairperson, Concept Designer, as well as Production and Scenic Designer. Projects were developed for film, television, theater, theme parks, museums, research and education, retail merchandising, corporate marketing and communications. Experiences included projects worldwide including New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Milan, Cincinnati, Knoxville and Orlando. Education consists of a Master of Fine Arts in Film, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from New York University, Manhattan and London.
